Message From The President   Business Approach   Executive Management  

Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, SMITHLAIN Enterprises, Incorporated is a woman-owned small disadvantaged business that was founded June 12, 1998.   SMITHLAIN has experienced phenomenal growth in the last 6 years. 

Currently SMITHLAIN provides support services in the areas of logistics, training and development, program management, information technology, manufacturing, and conference planning.  Some of our current customers include the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), NASA Headquarters, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntsville Center, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Raytheon.

SMITHLAIN received its 8(a) certification in August 1999 and HUBZone certification in July 2000.  We are members of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce.

In September 2001, SMITHLAIN was awarded the NASA Engineering Training (NET) contract by NASA Headquarters, Washington, DC.  This unique opportunity allows SMITHLAIN to work with and train the best of the best NASA Engineers in system design, system requirements, systems engineering, software acquisition, software engineering, verification, validation, testing, and other special areas.

 In April 2002, the Office of Corporate Relations of Alabama A&M University honored SMITHLAIN as Small Business of the Year. 

In the January/February 2002 issue of Minority Business Entrepreneur, SMITHLAIN was featured for its work with Oakwood College of Huntsville, Alabama, as a part of the government’s Historically Black Colleges and University and Other Minority Institutions (HBCU/OMIs) initiative. SMITHLAIN was also featured in the November 1999 issue of Black Enterprise Magazine.

 In 2001, SMITHLAIN was awarded the South Regions Minority Business Council (SRMBC) Diversity Award for Supplier of the Year. 

SMITHLAIN, as a subcontractor under the NASA Headquarters, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), Training and Development of Small Businesses in Advanced Technologies (TADSBAT) contract, has successfully supported and trained over 2000 small businesses throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. This Training included: How to do business with NASA and other government agencies in the areas of Marketing, ISO 9000:2000, Financial Management, Proposal preparation, Strategies for Small Businesses, Teaming Agreements, and NASA Mentor-Protégé Program.
